Split Earlobe Repair
Split or torn earlobes (or an elongated earring opening) are the most common Las Vegas earlobe repair requests that we see at Strimling Dermatology, Laser & Vein Institute of Summerlin and Las Vegas, NV.
Gauged Earlobe Repair
Dr. Strimling is well versed in all aspects of surgical earlobe repairs, especially split or torn earlobes and stretched / gauged earlobes. Dr. Strimling has a special interest in the repair of difficult and / or complicated earlobe repair problems, such as extensively stretched or torn earlobes from gauging.
Earlobe Reduction Surgery or Cosmetic Earlobe Surgery
Earlobe reduction surgery or cosmetic earlobe surgery for enlarged earlobes, whether genetic in nature or associated with aging, is another commonly requested procedure.
Also, sometimes, cosmetic fillers are used to “re-inflate” aged, deflated stretched earlobes.
Ear Keloid Removal
Abnormal, enlarged, often itchy or painful scars known as keloid scars are relatively common, affecting up to about 10% of the population, especially darker skin types. Keloid scars may occur anywhere on the ear, especially in locations of piercings. Dr. Strimling removes keloids and also removes dermal piercings with minimal or invisible scarring.
These procedures are performed under local lidocaine anesthesia (i.e. after a numbing shot in the ear area) in one of our surgical suites. A very thin layer of skin is removed around the split / torn / stretched opening, any necessary plastic surgical tailoring of the earlobe is performed, and then the defect is sutured shut. Sutures are removed in 1-2 weeks. In the case of enlarged, stretched or gauged earlobes, a variable amount of excess tissue must be removed and meticulously tailored to reconstruct the earlobe prior suturing. Keloid scars (of the ears) are also surgically removed, but often without any need for sutures.
The cost of ear / earlobe repair / plastic surgery at our Las Vegas clinic varies depending upon the extent and nature of the problem.
