Aging, sun exposure, lifestyle, heredity, and environmental pollutants all contribute variably to the tell-tale signs of skin aging, including wrinkles, discolored "age spots", surface tone or textural irregularity, and even more serious conditions, such as pre-skin cancers.
These age-related changes, as well as other discolored blemishes and scars are easily and effectively treated via one or more laser resurfacing techniques. At Strimling Dermatology, Laser & Vein Institute of Summerlin, Las Vegas, we have laser resurfacing options for all skin types, face and body areas.
Our supervising laser physician, Dr. Robert Strimling, MD of Strimling, Laser & Vein Institute of Las Vegas has over 25 years experience with a myriad of lasers. Because of Dr. Strimling's vast experience and knowledge, you can feel comfortable knowing that you will get credible advice and precision treatment at our Institute.
Our Laser Resurfacing Options include:
- Laser Resurfacing (Laser Peel, aka Contour TRL Skin Resurfacing)
- MIcroLaserPeels (superficial to mid level Laser Resurfacing)
- Fractional Resurfacing (with Sciton's Profractional-XC)
- Hollywood / Spectra / PICO Laser Peels & 532 Laser Peels
Laser Resurfacing (Laser Peel or Contour TRL Skin Resurfacing) with the Sciton Joule Contour Tunable Resurfacing Laser (TRL)
Moderate to deep wrinkles, scars, sun spots, pre-cancers, and poor skin tone/texture are conditions treatable with our Sciton Joule Contour TRL. Only the Contour TRL incorporates a dual Erbium laser modality that permits precise, adjustable control of the peeling (ablation) depth used to resurface and the laser generated heat used to tighten. Because skin peeling depth and adjacent desired collateral heat damage can be precisely and separately controlled, the Contour TRL is the safest, most versatile and effective laser resurfacing technology available. It also allows other manufacturers' laser resurfacing parameters to be imitated, if desired.
MicroLaserPeels
Our most popular resurfacing procedure, MicroLaserPeels ("Weekend Peels") reduce age-related skin changes and scars painlessly with less down-time, but have less-dramatic effects than Contour TRL laser resurfacing. However, adjunct fractional resurfacing (e.g. Profractional-XC) and/or a limited series of MicroLaserPeels can achieve dramatic, equivalent results with minimized down-time.
Fractional Resurfacing (with Sciton's Profractional-XC)
Profractional-XC is Sciton's tunable fractional laser resurfacing technology. Sciton's adjustable (tunable) laser allows for customization and precision in your treatment and results.
Fractional resurfacing ablates (peels) multiple focal or small areas of skin leaving intervening islands of normal skin that contribute to more rapid healing. Hence, fractional resurfacing allows (focal) deeper resurfacing, yet rapid healing. Moderate to deep wrinkles and scars require deeper resurfacing for best results. Fractional resurfacing offers profound improvement with minimized downtime, in contrast to Contour TRL laser resurfacing and other fully ablative procedures. Profractional can also successfully treat resistant melasma ("pregnancy mask"), and may be used to improve stria (stretch marks).
Fractional procedures require multiple treatments for complete (or near-complete) treatment area coverage to achieve satisfactory improvement.
In our experience, combination MicroLaserPeel with Profractional-XC achieves the sweet spot of desirable improvement with minimal discomfort, downtime and additional treatments, especially for deeper wrinkles or scars.
Laser resurfacing does not effectively address vascular lesions (red spots) nor does it significantly tighten loose, saggy skin. Face vascular lesions (red spots) are best addressed with Photofacials via our Sciton Broad Band Light device. Photofacials can improve, to a lesser extent, many of the same aging concerns as laser resurfacing without any downtime over a course of 3-5 treatments. Loose, saggy extra skin can be more significantly improved with non-invasive skin tightening / lifting techniques such as Ultherapy, Exilis and / or radiofrequency microneedling; or surgically, with a surgical face-lift. Photofacials, SkinTyte & laser resurfacing can be combined to address multiple cosmetic concerns. Other common cosmetic adjunct procedures include Botox / Dysport and Wrinkle Fillers.
Other Alternatives to Laser Resurfacing include: Chemical Peels, radiofrequency microneedling, and Skin Care Programs.
